LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 11, 2021) –  Head Women's Golf Coach Josey Stender announced the signing of one athlete on Thursday. Wyoming Native Sophie Spiva will join the join the Cowgirl golf squad next fall. 
 
"I am very excited about Sophie, she has been a staple not only in high school golf in Wyoming but really has been leading the way in junior golf and she has also transitioned well to being competitive in amateur golf." Stender said "It is very important to us to be able to sign an athlete from Wyoming. I am excited for her and can't wait to see what she can do at the collegiate level." 
 
In her time at Natrona County High school Spiva was a four-time state qualifier finishing fourth at the 2021 state championships and leading her team to a fourth-place finish as well. She was also a four-time all-state selection while competing at Natrona County. Spiva also has experience playing at the junior and amateur levels even competing at the Junior Worlds tournament.
