COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (10/23/21) – Fifth-year senior Katelyn Blattner was one of many who didn't enjoy the disjointed nature of the 2020-21 season. COVID-19 affected meet schedules and more importantly practice regiments, creating a season of frustration and what-ifs.

Blattner didn't want that to be the end of her career. She elected to take advantage of the COVID-redshirt season and has come into this season motivated and focused.

That was evident Friday during a quad meet featuring host Air Force, Denver and LSU. Blattner topped the field in the 500-yard freestyle.

"Blattner had the swim of the day," head coach Dave Denniston said. "This meet has a lot of energy, and while there were some good swims and performances, we didn't match the other teams' energy in the pool."

Results were not available to share following Friday's competition. Full results will be released following the conclusion of the meet Saturday.

"I hope with some sleep (Friday night), we will swim faster (Saturday)" Denniston said. "I think the entire team is looking forward to performing at a higher level (Saturday)."
