UW Hits the Road to Face Nevada

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 20, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirls look to build upon their two-game winning streak with a pair of road contests this weekend at Nevada. The Cowgirls and Wolf Pack will face off at 6 p.m., Mountain Time Friday and at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

Both games will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the 25 stations of the Cowgirl Radio Network with Keith Kelley on the call.

A LOOK AT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming (6-5, 4-4 MW) is coming off a series sweep over Air Force in their previous matchup. The Cowgirls stepped up defensively in the two contests, holding the Falcons to just 30 percent shooting in the series and 47.5 points per game, winning game one, 55-49 and game two, 59-46.

Dagny Davidsdottir tied a career-high with 16 points in both games against AFA. Davidsdottir went 15-for-20 from the floor in the two contests and also tied a career-best with 12 rebounds in the Monday victory. The 16 points are the most for Davidsdottir in a Wyoming uniform, Davidsdottir scored 16 while playing for Niagara last season.

Tommi Olson tallied a near triple-double in the January 16 win over the Falcons. Olson recorded her first career double-double in the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds and also dished out a season-high eight assists. Olson ranks second in the league with 55 assists this season and is third averaging five per contest while her 2.12 assist-to-turnover ratio is also third-best in the MW.

Alba Sanchez Ramos and McKinley Bradshaw lead the Cowgirls in scoring this season and are the only two Cowgirls averaging in double-figures this season at 11.9 and 11.4 points, respectively. Quinn Weidemann continues to come up big in the clutch down the stretch of games for UW at the free-throw line after going 4-of-4 in the final minute of game one against the Falcons to ice the victory. Weidemann is now 10-of-11 (91 percent) at the stripe in the final minute of regulation and overtime this season and has made 44 of her last 45 (98 percent) overall at the line dating back to last season.

SCOUTING NEVADA
Da'Ja Hamilton is the only Nevada student-athlete averaging in double figures this season at 14.5 points per game. Hamilton also leads the team with 37 assists and 17 made 3-pointers, while ranking second on the squad with 13 steals. Megan Ormiston is second on the team averaging 9.6 points per game and is tied for the team lead averaging 5.8 boards per contest.

The Wolf Pack is averaging just over 65 points per game as a team this season and are allowing opponents to score 69.6 per. Nevada is shooting 37.1 percent from the floor and 22.2 percent from 3-point range on the year. Wolf Pack opponents are shooting 44.2 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from beyond-the-arc. Nevada is 3-3 at home this season.

Amanda Levens is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Wolf Pack.

SERIES AGAINST NEVADA
The Cowgirls lead the all-time series with the Wolf Pack, 20-7 and is 6-5 all time in Reno, including having won the last four on the road. Last season, Wyoming won 84-79 at Nevada as part of its season-sweep. In the last 15 contests against the Wolf Pack, dating back to 2013, the Cowgirls are 12-3.
