LARAMIE, Wyo. (APRIL 16, 2020) – The life of University of Wyoming basketball legend Kenny Sailors has been beautifully captured in the film JUMP SHOT THE KENNY SAILORS STORY and the online premiere of the film opened yesterday and runs through Saturday.

We caught up with director and producer Jake Hamilton for a quick Q&A about the film.

The 79-minute film may now be preordered online at jumpshotmovie.com for a rental fee of only $7.99.  Ten percent of the proceeds from the online rental fee and 100 percent of "Give" Funds will go to benefit the Convoy of Hope for COVID-19 meals in under-served communities.

The film features basketball greats Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Fennis Dembo, Bob Knight, Nancy Lieberman, Kiki Vandeweghe, Clark Kellogg, Tim Legler, David Goldberg, Lou Carnesecca, Mark Price, Chip Engelland and many more.

You put a lot of your life's work into this film. How excited are you to share it with the State of Wyoming and the World?
Hamilton: It is such an exciting time. I started working on this film when I was 26 and now I'm 35, so if you do the math it has been a fifth of my life. Now that we are at the point where we can show the film with audiences across the globe is an incredible experience.

What was it like to share the story of Kenny Sailors with some great players?
Hamilton: When you start on a film like this you really get to study the subject you are capturing then you move to the circle of friends and family. We started with the great folks in Wyoming and moved to people who had voice in basketball today. We found some great players and had some unique players. We showed the film to the Chaplin of USA Basketball and he said he knew a few guys who would love to see this. Those players were Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. Steph watched it on a plane to China and we shared the film with Durant at his home. These guys did not know about Kenny Sailors and being able to share it with these two was a great moment. They were excited and they wanted to share the story. They wanted to be a part of the film and Steph came on as an executive producer.

Documentary film making takes so much time and dedication to make. Talk about the process and how much work is involved?
Hamilton: So many challenges involved, the main one is finishing and getting it in front of audiences. It's one of those things that you have to keep pushing forward and you need a great team around you. When you see the film and the credits at the end it is amazing and I had a great team around me. Over time you begin to see the direction of the film. The directions during film making changes so much and you become able to see beyond. You have to always take a step forward. We had so many historians of basketball in Bobby Knight, Nancy Lieberman and Clark Kellogg
.
Wyoming takes great pride in Kenny Sailors. What are people going to see that they may not know about Kenny Sailors?
Hamilton: We did a small screening of the rough cut of the film with some of Kenny's friends and family. The response we got afterwards gave us a piece of mind. A friend of his said thank you for giving me another hour and half of my dear friend. This film captures what Kenny was. We have some great footage that we found that has never seen before.

Do you have a great Kenny Sailors story when you filmed with Kenny Sailors?
Hamilton: As a documentary film making you are always wondering ways to go about going something a different way and plan for any outcome. At one point in time we put together a massive document of audio Kenny had done and get our best sound bites. I printed out like 50 pages and sat down with Kenny and two pages in he asked how much more of this do we have? I said maybe 40 more and he said I think I'm done, let's go eat now! I always look back and laugh at that and we look back on that with such fond memories of his humor.
