GREELEY, Colo. (Dec. 5, 2020) – The Cowgirl swimming and diving team wrapped up its weekend with a 144-118 over the Northern Colorado Bears on Saturday afternoon.
"We had a good back and forth meet today with Northern Colorado," head coach
Dave Denniston said. "Didn't start off real strong in the 200 medley relay. Following that, our leaders really started to come our strong.
Lainee Jones won the 200 freestyle convincingly. Senior
Katelyn Blattner won the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke along with her strong showing in the relays. Freshman
Isabel Rich had a dominate race in the 200 breaststroke leading from start to finish in convincing fashion.
Brooke Ford also had a solid race in the same platform.
Hannah Mclean-Leonard swam and won the 200 IM to close out the meet. Overall, it was good and fast swimming. Looking forward to getting some rest and putting together some training over the holidays."
In the 200 medley relay, the team of

Lainee Jones placed second with a time of 1:47.44. The team of
Emily Giles,
Hannah Linde,
Kira Crane and
Lainee Jones went 1:49.54.
Freshman
Britt Nichols touched the wall in a career-time of 10:50.95 in the 1000 free style, while sophomore
Claire Becker went 11:30.99.
Junior
Lainee Jones took home the win the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.24 followed by freshman
Sage Morton in 1:58.64.
Senior
Katelyn Blattner was the top finisher in the 100 backstroke with a posted time of 58.51. Fellow senior
Hannah Mclean-Leonard went 58.87 to follow. In the 100 breaststroke, junior
Rylie Pilon touched the wall in 1:05.86 to place first while senior Linde went 1:08.46.
In the 100 free, freshman
Kylee Theiler went a career-best 54.56, while junior
Maggie Clerkin posted a 55.38 time.
Sophomore
Emily Giles was first in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:11.44. Junior
Erin Eccleston was third in a time of 2:15.43.
Freshman
Isabel Rich recorded a career-best time of 2:26.52 in the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.52. She was followed by Ford in 2:30.99 while Linde was sixth with a time of 2:32.10.
Blattner won her second event of the day with a win in the 500 freestyle touching the wall in 5:12.96. Morton followed with a time of 5:14.88. Clerkin was fourth with a posed time of 5:18.86.
Jones was second the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 59.01 and Crane in third for a time of 1:00.99.
Mclean-Leonard was first in the 200 IM with her time of 2:09.16 while Eccleston was third with a posted time of 2:17.20.
To close out the meet, the team of Blattner, Nichols, Crane and Jones won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:33;70.
Both teams are scheduled to be back in action on Friday, January 15 against the Air Force Falcons. The meet is scheduled to take place in Colorado Springs.
