LARAMIE, Wyo. (December 22, 2020) –   Former Wyoming soccer player Alisha Bass recently signed a contract to play with the Newcastle United Jets of the Westfield League. The W-League is the top-division women's soccer league in Australia.

"I moved to Newcastle a few months ago for work and it already feels like home," Bass said. "I've really enjoyed the training environment with the Jets in my time with them. It's been really competitive and a very welcoming group of players and coaches. I'm excited for the first game in just under 10 days."

A four-time Academic All-Mountain West selection, she graduated with a double degree in finance and management with a consulting concentration.

Bass was a four-year letterwinner and center midfielder for the Cowgirls from 2014-17. During that time, she helped the team to 36 total wins, plus 11 and 10 win seasons. Bass still ranks among the top ten in school history in seven categories. She is second in matches started (80), third in game winning goals (7), fourth in assists (14) and matches played (80). She is sixth in points with 46 and tenth in shots at 108.

She currently works with Christians against Poverty in Newcastle and is a debt counsellor. Prior to that, she worked for Soutar Accountants in Sydney.  She was a tax accountant and worked with clients to complete their individual tax return, business activity statements and the accounting on their retirement funds.
