LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 18, 2020) – The Wyoming Cowgirls close out 2020 and their non-conference slate Sunday with a trip to Greeley to face Northern Colorado in a 1 p.m., contest from the Bank of Colorado Arena. The Cowgirls are coming off a split with UNLV to open Mountain West play last time out, including a 67-62 win Monday in Las Vegas.
A LOOK AT THE COWGIRLS
Alba Sanchez Ramos recorded a career-high 20 points in the Cowgirls win over UNLV Monday. Sanchez Ramos scored 20 of UW's 28 first half points while going 8-of-15 from the floor. The eight made field goals were also a career-best for Sanchez Ramos.
With her 4-for-4 performance at the free-throw line Monday, Quinn Weidemann is now fourth all-time in the Wyoming career record books with an 85.4 percent mark from the charity stripe. All four of Weidemann's free throws came in the final minute of the contest to help secure the win. Dating back to last season, Weidemann is now 29-of-32 (90.6 percent) over the past two seasons at the line in the final minute of games and in overtime.
McKinley Bradshaw leads the squad in scoring through four games averaging 13 points per game while her 41.2 percent shooting from 3-point range is second on the team. Sanchez Ramos is the only other Cowgirl averaging in double figures this season, averaging 11.5 points per. Dagny Davidsdottir leads UW in rebounds per game with 5.8.
Wyoming's 26-point fourth quarter Monday against UNLV was a season-high for scoring in a quarter this season for the Cowgirls. UW is outscoring its opponents 74-67 in fourth quarters of games this season.
SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
Northern Colorado enters Sunday's contest with a 1-5 mark overall on the season with its lone win coming at home against Denver, a 75-74 victory.
The Bears are led by their do-it-all forward Alisha Davis, who leads the team in scoring (16.3), rebounds (10.0), steals (2.5) and blocks (1.5) per game. Davis is shooting over 50 percent from the floor on the year and last season, scoring 14 points and pulled down nine boards in UNC's 46-44 win in Laramie las December.
Jasmine Gayles is the other Bear scoring in double figures this season as she averages 15 points per game and is also second on the squad averaging 5.3 rebounds per and is an outstanding 8-for-15 (53.3 percent) from 3-point range.
As a team, UNC is scoring 63.2 points per game while allowing opponents to score an average of 72.2 per. The Bears are shooting 41.5 percent overall from the field and making nearly 35 percent of their 3-point shots. UNC is out-rebounding its opponents by the slimmest of margins per game, 34.7 to 34.5
Jenny Huth is in her third season as the head coach of the Bears.
Sunday will be the 11th trip down to Greeley for Wyoming in the series history. The Cowgirls have won six-of-seven against the Bears on the road and is 7-3 all-time in Greeley. It will be the first trip to play UNC since 2006.

The Cowgirls return to Mountain West play to begin the New Year as they host defending regular-season MW champion Fresno State in a pair of contests to be played January 2 and 4.
