Cowboy Cagers Set for Tuesday Evening Matchup at Nevada

Game to be televised on CBS Sports Network

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 12, 2020) – The Wyoming Cowboys hit the road for a Tuesday evening contest at Nevada. The contest that can be seen on CBS Sports Network is set for an 8 p.m. MT start. It is the Cowboys first matchup with the Wolf Pack in Reno since Jan. 3, 2018.
 
Fans can listen to the contest and follow stats on GoWyo.com. The contest will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Dave Walsh will have the call with Kevin McKinney on color.
 
A Look at the Matchup
Wyoming heads to Reno with a 5-13 record and a 0-6 mark on conference play. The Cowboys dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to UNLV on Saturday by a score of 78-69. The Pokes held UNLV to 22 percent from the field in the first half for the lowest field goal percentage in an opening frame by a Cowboy opponent since Colorado State shot 20 percent on Jan. 7, 2015. Wyoming is holding opponents to 42.5 percent from the field for the season for sixth in the MW. Wyoming is holding opponents to 67.1 points per game to rank fourth in the conference.
 
The Wolf Pack head into Tuesday's contest with a 10-7 overall record and a 3-2 mark in conference play. Nevada is one of the nation's top three-point shooting teams with 167 makes on the season to lead the MW and rank No. 13 in the nation. The Wolf Pack are shooting 39 percent from behind the arc for second in the conference and No. 11 in the nation. Nevada holds opponents to 26 percent from behind the arc to rank sixth in the nation and lead the conference.
 
Each Team's Leaders
The Pokes are led in scoring, rebounding and assists by redshirt sophomore Hunter Maldonado. He ranks third in the MW adding 17.9 points per game for the season. He grabs 5.8 rebounds per game and ranks eighth in the conference at 3.6 assists per night. Senior Jake Hendricks adds 9.7 points per game for the season to rank second on the team. He ranks third in the conference adding 2.6 three pointers per game. Sophomore Hunter Thompson adds 8.4 points per game and is second on the team with 5.2 rebounds per game.
 
The Wolf Pack are led in scoring by Jalen Harris at 18.3 points per game to rank second in the MW. He also leads the team grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game for the season and adds 3.9 assists per game. Jazz Johnson is second on the team at 17.2 points per game for the season. He has hit 57 threes for the season to rank No. 13 in the nation, as he also leads the MW conference.
 
About The Series
Wyoming leads the all-time series against the Wolf Pack 14-7. The Pokes hold a 5-3 all-time record in Reno. Nevada has taken five of the last six meetings dating back to 2016. Wyoming is 7-6 against Nevada in the MW era of the series.
