Laramie, Wyo. (Sept. 7, 2019) --  With a consistent even par round of 288 as a team on Saturday, the Wyoming Cowboy men's golf team kept itself in contention for the team title at the 2019 Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.  Wyoming  has a two-round total of 570 (-6) and trails host Air Force by only six strokes.  The Falcons lead the tournament at 564 (-12).  Leading the way for the Pokes is sophomore Kirby Coe-Kirham, who is tied for fourth at 138 (-6).  He shot his second consecutive sub-par round, with a 70 (-2) after firing a 68 (-4) in the opening round.  Jake Vincent of Southern Utah leads the tournament at 134 (-10).

The Pokes are one of only five teams under par.  Colorado is in second at 566 (-10).  Northern Colorado sits in third at 569 (-7).  Wyoming is in fourth 570 (-6), and UC Davis is in fifth at 575 (-1).

"This is early season, but the guys are playing hard," said Joe Jensen, University of Wyoming Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach.  "Kirby (Coe-Kirkham) had another nice round today.  He is a young player who doesn't have a lot of ups and downs.  He plays consistent golf.  Carl (Underwood) was a couple strokes over par today, but he is right there in sixth place and I'm hoping he can really grow from his performance this week.  Dan (Starzinski) and Tyler (Severin) each posted par rounds today for our other two rounds that scored for us.

"We didn't get any really low scores today, but we were really solid today, and I feel good about that because we are only six strokes back.  We're going to go give this a run tomorrow."

The tournament is being played on the Eisenhower Golf Club Blue Course at the Air Force Academy.  The course measures 7,511 yards and plays to a par of 72.  The third and final round will tee off on Sunday morning beginning at 7:15 a.m., M.T.  The Cowboys are scheduled to tee off in the final foursome of teams, beginning at 9 a.m., M.T.
