LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 4, 2019) – The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team hosts its 11th consecutive UniWyo Invitational Friday and Saturday in the UniWyo Sports Complex. The Cowgirls welcome Buffalo, College of Charleston and Northern Colorado to town.

The Pokes open the invite with an 11:30 a.m., match against Buffalo Friday before closing out day one in primetime at 7 p.m., against College of Charleston. Saturday's contest against Northern Colorado is set for 6 p.m.

Wyoming is coming off its first victory of 2019 in its home opener Monday against LIU. The Cowgirls swept the Sharks 25-16, 25-18 and 25-14 in front of a crowd of 1,127. KC McMahon led the Pokes with a season-high 14 kills while Jackie McBride added nine and Hailey Zuroske chipped in eight. Setter Mackenzie Coates tallied a career-high 33 assists and guided the offense to a .371 hitting percentage. The Cowgirls also limited LIU to just a .124 hitting percentage in the win.

Defensively, senior libero Madi Fields racked up 13 digs in the win, while Tara Traphagan added six and a block assist. McBride had a solo block in the match while Faith Waitsman led the Pokes at the net with a pair of block assists.

Fields enters the weekend in third-place on the all-time career digs list. Fields' 1,254 career digs puts her in position to surpass former Cowgirl All-American Jodi Purdy (1,278) for second on the career list this weekend.

Buffalo enters the weekend 1-2 after hosting their own tournament this past weekend, picking up a sweep of Marist for its lone victory. The Bulls are led by Polina Prokudina's 39 kills while setter Scout McLerran is averaging 10.18 assists per set. As a team, UB is hitting .242 this season.

College of Charleston is 0-2 on the young season but those defeats came at the hands of No. 1 ranked Stanford and Michigan State last weekend. Lauren Freed is the only Cougar with double-digit kills so far in 2019 with 12 while Logan Manusky leads the squad with 16 digs.

UNC also hosted a tournament to open 2019, going 2-1 over the weekend. The Bears are led by Taylor Muff's 49 kills while Kailey Jo Ince has 41. Setter Daisy Schultz is averaging 11.46 assists per set while spearheading an offense hitting .206 overall. As a team, the Bears already have 28 service aces (2.15 per set).

Season tickets are available for Cowgirl volleyball, starting at $65 for public general admission and $35 for children between the ages of 3-12. Single-match tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for children. Fans can contact the Wyoming ticket office at (307) 766-7220 or by visiting the ticket office in the Arena-Auditorium Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
