A total of seven former Cowboys saw game action during the opening week of the 2019 National Football League season.

Mark Nzeocha had a significant impact on the gridiron for the San Francisco 49ers. After Tampa Bay went three-and-out on their first drive of the game, Nzeocha blocked a punt that was recovered by the Buccaneers, but the fifth-year linebacker made the tackle and set his team up with great field position. The 49ers subsequent drive ended in a field-goal. Then, late in the second quarter, Nzeocha intercepted a pass from Jamies Winston at the Tampa Bay 30-yard line.

2018 first-round pick Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills picked up the win over the New York Jets in week one. Heading into the fourth quarter, Allen and the Bills were down 3-16. The Bills first drive of the quarter went 85 yards and was capped off by an Allen three-yard rushing touchdown. One possession later, and down by six, the Bills got the ball back at the their 20-yard line. Allen slung it to receiver John Brown for a game-winning 38-yard score to put the Bills up by one, and that's how the final score read.

Undrafted free agent Safety Andrew Wingard made is NFL regular season debut for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wingard recorded one tackle in the Jaguars loss.
