LARAMIE, Wyo. (Aug. 28, 2019) – The University of Wyoming Cowboy football team recorded its highest recorded grade point average sporting a 2.934 for this past school year. The number is the cumulative GPA from the fall, spring and summer semesters.

Wyoming had 28 student-athletes record a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the year. The Cowboys had 22 student-athletes named to the Mountain West Academic All-Conference team for the most in school history.

The announcement comes off the heels of Nick Smith being named the Mountain West Male Scholar Athlete of the Year on Tuesday. He was the first male athlete to earn the award since fellow Cowboy football player Luke Ruff garnered the honor in 2012-13. He was the fifth Wyoming student-athlete to be named a Mountain West Scholar Athlete joining Audra DeStefano (2016-17), Luke Ruff and Chaundra Sewell (2012-13) and Greg Miller (2011-12).
