LARAMIE, Wyo. (August 19, 2019) – As the summer tourism months are underway, our diverse Cowgirl basketball team would like to give fans a guide to their hometowns. This week, Coreen Labish shares her favorite parts of Cheney, Wash., and the Spokane area.
 
Coreen says the best place to stay in the Cheney and Spokane area is the are overlooking the Spokane River and Falls. Then, when you're hungry, she would direct you to Lenny's Italian restaurant or the Barrel House in Cheney, or the Luigi's across from the opera house and convention center in Spokane. For shopping, she recommends the River Park Square in downtown Spokane.
 
Some of the can't-miss sights in that area include the Riverfront Park area in Spokane, which involves the SkyRide gondola of the falls, the IMAX theater, the Looff Carrousel and the big red wagon play area for children. Additionally, the Grand Coulee Dam on Lake Roosevelt is something visitors should see. The lake stretches nearly to the Canadian border, and the dam is known as one of the seven engineering wonders in the United States. Labish adds that the Riverside State Park Bowl and Pitcher, Lake Coeur d'Alene and Mt. Spokane are great areas in nature to spend time when visiting.
 
Labish says concerts at the Knitting Factory are another great way to spend an evening. For Cowgirl basketball fans, the area of Spokane is now known as Hooptown, USA, because of its love for basketball. Tourists can also spend a day at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. Labish says that the Cheney and Spokane area is known for its diverse range of family, athletic and cultural activities, so anyone who spends time there will have a great vacation.
