LARAMIE, Wyo. (July 15, 2019) – As the summer tourism months are under way, our diverse Cowgirl team would like to give fans a guide to their hometowns. This week, Tommi Olson, a sophomore, shares her favorite parts of Worland, Wyo.

Olson shares that Worland is a great place for people who like to spend time outdoors. It's near the Bighorn National Forest as well as white water rafting by Thermopolis. There are multiple walk-in hunting and fishing areas in town and stretching throughout most of the Big Horn Basin. Olson also likes the Gooseberry Badlands Scenic Trail and Overlook and the hot springs in Thermopolis.

After you've spent the day outdoors, Olson recommends eating at Stogie Joe's, Elk's Lodge or Lisa's, which is in Greybull, less than an hour north of Worland.

If you want to stay indoors, Olson would direct you to the Washakie Museum and Cultural Center to visit, or plenty of local retail stores on Main Street to spend time shopping. Additionally, there is a dinosaur museum in Thermopolis. Olson adds that visitors should keep an eye out for farmers markets, car shows, rodeos and gun shows.

Olson notes that Worland also features five city parks, a free public community center and the new Worland Aquatic Center that features a water slide, pool basketball and many other fun activities. The city also has street dances during the summer, late night movies and city recreational leagues if you're looking to get active.
