LARAMIE, Wyo. (March 4, 2019) – The Cowboys close out the road portion of the schedule on Wednesday heading to San José State for a battle with the Spartans at 8 p.m. MT. The Pokes took the first meeting of the season 59-46 in Laramie on Jan. 23. The Pokes have won seven-straight in the series dating back to March 2, 2016.

A Look at the Matchup
Wyoming heads into the contest with a 6-23 overall record and a 2-14 mark in conference play. The Pokes fell at home to Air Force on Saturday by a score of 80-72. The Pokes hit 13 three-pointers for the game, but the Falcons countered scoring 20 second chance points for the night.
The Pokes have connected on 219 three-pointers this season. Wyoming connects on 34 percent from behind the arc. The Cowboys are shooting 73 percent from the free throw line to rank second in the conference behind Utah State at 75 percent.
The Spartans head into Wednesday's game with a 4-24 overall record and a 1-15 mark in the MW. San José State fell at San Diego State 85-56 on Saturday. The Spartans picked up a home win last Wednesday downing New Mexico by a score of 89-82.
San José State is averaging 65.5 points per game, while allowing 80.2 points per night. The Spartans are shooting 40 percent from the field with the opposition connecting on 47 percent of their attempts. San José State averages 16 turnovers per game for the season and adds 13.6 assists per game.

Wyoming is led in scoring, rebounding and assists by senior guard
Justin James. He leads the MW in scoring at 21.4 points per game, which ranks No. 27 in the nation. He grabs 8.4 rebounds per game for sixth in the MW and adds 4.4 assists per game for fourth in the league. He also leads the MW in steals at 1.6 per game and has 45 on the season. James ranks in the top-five in 14 categories in the MW.
Junior guard
Jake Hendricks adds 10.4 points per game and leads the Pokes with 56 three pointers on the year. Hendricks is averaging 35.3 minutes per game, which ranks second on the Pokes behind James. He hit six threes on Saturday against Air Force. Freshman
Trace Young adds 7.5 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per night. He has scored in double-figures in back-to-back games.
The Spartans are led in scoring and rebounding by Michael Steadman at 13.4 points per game and 8.5 rebounds. He is shooting 49 percent from the field for the season. He averages 30.5 minutes per game. Nate Baumann adds 10.1 points per game for the season. He has hit 68 triples on the year including hitting eight against New Mexico last Wednesday.
