Laramie, Wyo. (March 4, 2019) --  The University of Wyoming's Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (HAPC) is featured as the cover story in the March 2019 issue of Athletics Administration Magazine, the Official Publication of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).  The HAPC is highlighted on the cover of the magazine and featured on pages 2, 28, 30-31.  The HAPC opened on Aug. 18, 2018.

The article was written by Greg Garlock of DLR Group.  DLR Group designed the HAPC along with local partner Pappas & Pappas Architects of Cheyenne, Wyo.  The article is titled "A Winning Culture at the University of Wyoming."  The HAPC includes 71,000 square feet of new space combined with 47,000 square feet of renovated space in the Rochelle Athletics Center for a total of 118,000 square feet dedicated to meeting the athletic, academic and nutritional needs of UW's over 400 student-athletes.

A total of 136 donors were involved in helping fund the High Altitude Performance Center (HAPC).  In excess of $24 million in private gifts were raised for the HAPC.  Former Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead and the Wyoming State Legislature provided $20 million in state matching funds for the project.

"Not only is the Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center one of the finest athletic facilities in the country, it also has served to connect our student-athletes in a way we previously weren't able to," said Tom Burman, University of Wyoming Athletics Director.  "From the training table, to the strength and conditioning areas, to the social areas within the building, the High Altitude Performance Center has provided an atmosphere where student-athletes from all of our teams have many more opportunities to interact with one another."

"The High Altitude project has exceeded all of our expectations," said Craig Bohl, University of Wyoming head football coach.  "We feel that we have a facility that can train our student-athletes at a high level for the next 20 years.  As we were involved in the planning of this facility, we looked to meet the needs of our student-athletes in all areas important to their development -- from providing academic resources to help them succeed in the classroom, to meeting their nutritional needs and strength and conditioning needs and provide a first class sports medicine area."
