Laramie, Wyo. (Nov. 25, 2019) – College Sports Madness named its Mountain West Players of the Week on Monday, and Wyoming's
Logan Wilson was selected as the MW Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Wyoming's 17-7 win over Colorado State.
Wilson recorded eight tackles, including five solo tackles, and intercepted a pass to end Colorado State's final possession of the game in UW's 17-7 home win for the Cowboys in the 111th edition of the Border War.
He was the leader of a Cowboy defense that held CSU to a season low 7 points. The Rams entered the game averaging 30.6 points per game. Wilson's defense also limited the Rams to only 265 yards of total offense. CSU was averaging 460.5 yards of total offense per game entering this year's Border War.
His interception came with a little over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and ended Colorado State's final chance to get back in the game as the Wyoming offense would run out the final 3:10 of the game following Wilson's interception.
Wilson's eight tackles included six tackles that resulted in small gains by Colorado State of four yards or less (0 yards, 1 yard, 3 yards, 3 yards, 4 yards and 4 yards).
His eight tackles moved him into the the No. 4 spot in Mountain West history in career tackles with 404, passing Dakota Cox of New Mexico, who had 403 tackles from 2013-16. He also becomes only the fourth Wyoming Cowboy in history with 400 tackles for a career, joining:
Galand Thaxton (467 tackles from 1984-87),
Andrew Wingard (454 tackles from 2015-18) and
Jim Talich (440 tackles from 1994-97).
Wilson's interception vs. CSU was Wilson's fourth of the season, tying him for No. 2 in the Mountain West Conference and No. 10 in the nation this season.
