SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Wyoming Cowgirl golfers
Kaylee Knadler and
Michelle Nguyen picked up some valuable tournament experience this week before the team's spring season gets underway, competing as amateurs in the season-opening event of the 2019 Cactus Tour at Wildfire Golf Club. The tournament began Monday and ran through Wednesday.
Knadler finished the week in a tie for 23rd at 11-over. The Cowgirl junior improved with each round, opening with a 5-over 77, followed by a 76 in her second round and a 2-over 74 on Wednesday that included a couple of birdies to wrap up the week.
Nguyen finished in 33rd overall finishing at 21-over. The Phoenix, Ariz., native rebounded from a first-round 82 by carding a 77 on Tuesday and a final-round 78.
Created in 2005, the Cactus Tour has evolved into not only a venue to improve your game but as a place to prepare for events during the off-season for all professional and highly skilled amateur women golfers. Drawing women's golfers from all major world tours, events are held mostly in the Phoenix area with some in Las Vegas, California and Texas venues as well.
The Cowgirls will return to the links as a team on Feb. 11, when they compete at the Battle at the Rock in Riverside, Calif.
