CHICAGO (Jan. 25, 2019) – Former University of Wyoming defensive end Carl Granderson will participate in the 2019 State Farm All-Star Football Challenge at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The 21st edition of the All-Star Football Challenge will air on ESPN2 at 7 p.m., M.T., on Friday, Feb. 1. The skills competition will feature 24 of college football's brightest stars divided into six teams based on their college conference. Each team will consist of four players from the same conference that will compete for conference supremacy in a series of skills competitions. The conferences represented are the ACC, the Big Ten, the Big 12, the Pac-12, the SEC, and four of the best players outside of the Power Five that will be called the "Wild Card" team.
 
Granderson will be playing in the 2019 Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.  He concluded his Wyoming career earning Second Team All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior after being named to the First Team as a junior in 2017.  He was also named to the 2018 Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List, the 2018 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List and the 2018 Ted Hendricks Award Watch List.
       
At the conclusion of his career, Granderson had recorded 35.5 career tackles for loss to rank No. 3 in Wyoming school history.  He also had 17.5 career sacks as a Cowboy, which ranked him only 1.5 sacks away from the Wyoming career Top 10. 
 
Granderson had a 61-yard interception return for a touchdown versus Hawai'i in 2018.  He recorded a season-best 10 tackles in a 35-27 home win over Air Force during the 2018 season, and in the regular-season finale at New Mexico he recorded five tackles, including a season-high 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.  Granderson was a key member of Wyoming's 2018 squad that posted a 6-6 record, earning bowl eligibility for the Wyoming Football program for the third consecutive season.                                                  
He helped the Cowboys achieve an 8-5 record in 2017 and earn a victory in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, where he returned a fumble recovery 58 yards for a touchdown to cap off a 37-14 win over Central Michigan.  Granderson was named to the 2017 Associated Press All-Bowl Team, in addition to being named First Team All-Mountain West Conference.

Each player will individually participate in a timed event, and then finish with a full team event. All events will be timed and have individual winners, which will compile into a cumulative score to determine the winning team. For example, the quarterbacks from each team will compete against each other to win their competition. But ultimately, their time will be added to the times of the other competitors on their conference designated team to have a final team score.
Individual events in the 2019 State Farm All-Star Football Challenge include: the State Farm QB Accuracy Competition, the Hands Competition, the Quicken Loans Lineman Strength Challenge and the Mercedes-Benz Obstacle Course. To conclude the program, the players will compete as teams in the State Farm Team Competition.
