LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 24, 2019) – The Wyoming Cowboys hit the road on Saturday for matinee matchup with Boise State inside Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho. It is the second meeting between the two teams this season with Boise State winning the Mountain West opener in Laramie 69-55.
 
The game will be streamed by Stadium on Facebook. Fans can listen to the contest and follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Dave Walsh and Kevin McKinney will call the action.
 
A Look at the Matchup
Wyoming heads into the contest with 5-14 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the MW. The Pokes earned a 59-46 win over San Jose State on Wednesday evening. It was the lowest points allowed under head coach Allen Edwards and the fewest since San Diego State's 43 points in the MW Championship in 2015.
 
The Pokes have recorded 10 steals in back-to-back games and have forced 35 turnovers over the last two games. Wyoming has also added double-digit assists in back-to-back games after recording 14 (tying season high) against San Jose State and 10 against New Mexico. Wyoming is shooting 35 percent from behind the arc for fourth in the conference.
 
The Broncos head into Saturday's game with an 8-11 overall record and a 3-3 mark in MW play. Boise State has dropped three-straight games including falling at Air Force on Tuesday by a score of 74-60. Boise State opened MW play 3-0 including a win over the Pokes in the MW opener on Jan. 2.
 
Boise State is one of the top shooting teams in the MW at 46 percent, which ranks fourth in the league. The Broncos are also shooting 33 percent from behind the arc and average 7.2 triples per game. Boise State is holding opponents to 67.2 points per game for fourth in the conference.
 
Each Team's Leaders
Wyoming is lead in scoring, rebounding and assists by senior guard Justin James. The second-highest active career scorer in the MW leads the league at 20.5 points per game. He ranks fourth in the MW averaging 8.7 rebounds per game and is seventh in assists at 4.1 per game. James now has 1,745 points in his career, as he passed Charles Bradley (1,744 from 1978-81) for seventh in school history.
 
Redshirt freshman Hunter Thompson adds 11.4 points per game on the season along with 3.6 rebounds. He is shooting 48 percent from behind the arc this season going 29-of-60. Freshman Trevon "TJ" Taylor adds seven points per game and averages 25.2 minutes per game.
 
The Broncos are led in scoring by Justinian Jessup at 12.8 points per game. He has 50 three pointers on the season for fourth in the MW. He also adds 4.3 rebounds per game and has a team-high 46 assists. Alex Hobbs adds 11.1 points per game and is shooting 93 percent from the free throw line. Derrick Alston adds 10.9 points per game. He is scoring 15.5 points per game in six conference games.
 
About The Series
The Cowboys and Broncos will battle for the advantage in the all-time series on Saturday, as it is currently tied at 14-14. Boise State won in Laramie on Jan. 2 by a score of 69-55. Wyoming is 4-8 in Boise since the series started in 1979.
