LARAMIE, Wyo. – Wyoming men's golf heads to Bremerton, Wash., for the 2018 Mountain West Championship at Gold Mountain Golf Club. The three-day tournament, running April 20-22, will be played on the Olympic Course for the first time in conference history. Tee times will begin at 9 a.m. MT each morning, and proceed in eight-minute intervals. The Cowboys will begin teeing off at 10:20 a.m. on Friday.

The Pokes enter the postseason after one of their best regular seasons in school history with three team victories. UW placed first at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational back in September and followed it up with another win at the Southern Dunes Invitational in October. Most recently, the Cowboys won the MacKenzie Match Play tournament in March.

Wyoming is one of seven current MW schools to never win a conference championship. UW's highest finish came in 2002 when the Pokes placed fifth. Wyoming has never finished lower than ninth. The Cowboys finished sixth two years ago with Drew McCullough leading the way in a tie for sixth, the second-highest finish ever by a Cowboy. It was the highest finish since Matthew Brunk tied for fourth in 2003, the best finish in school history.

"I've said all season that it's been a slow build toward playing our best golf at the conference championship," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "I think we have a group of guys that can go out and compete with anyone in the conference, and it's certainly something we talk about as a team. We have beaten every other team at some point this year and we don't shy away from what our goals are. We want to win."

UNLV enters the championship as the top team in the field, ranked No. 27 according to GolfStat. The Rebels have four team titles and have been conference champions each of the last two seasons. San Diego State comes in at No. 49 in the same rankings. The Aztecs have claimed the team title three times in school history, most recently in 2015. They have also finished second in seven different years, the most of any MW school. The New Mexico Lobos have the most championships of any MW team, with five titles, their last coming in 2014. The Pokes are ranked No. 79 in the latest GolfStat release.

Live stats will be available throughout the weekend at the link above. Tee times will be posted at GoWyo.com once they are set as well. Follow @wyo_golf on twitter for updates.
