The Cowgirls enter the contest 14-7 overall and a 7-3 conference record after a 60-47 loss against Fresno State on Saturday afternoon. Senior
Liv Roberts finished her night with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Junior
Marta Gomez followed with nine points off the bench while junior
Bailee Cotton and sophomore
Taylor Rusk each added eight points. Cotton also brought down nine rebounds. The Cowgirls shot 17-of-55 (.309) from the field and 6-of-26 (.231) from beyond the arc. Despite out rebounding the Bulldogs, 46-30, UW committed 16 turnovers which resulted in 14 points for Fresno State.
Roberts is averaging a team-high 13.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest, which ranks 10
th and 13
th in overall games, respectively in the MW. She is followed by Rusk who is adding 9.1 points and 2.9 assists, while Cotton is chipping in 8.8 points and 6.0 boards per game. UW is shooting 432-of-1077 (.401) from the field and 243-of-313 (.776) from the free throw line. The Cowgirls are also outscoring its opponents 59.6-55.4 and out rebounding teams 34.0-32.4.
The Aggies enter the contest with 5-17 mark overall and 3-8 in league action. They are led by sophomore Olivia West who leads the team with 12.1 points while adding 2.0 rebounds. Junior Rachel Brewster follows with 10.0 points, while sophomore Shannon Dufficy averages a team-high 8.0 boards. As a team, the Aggies are averaging 58.3 points and 34.5 rebounds per contest. They return all five starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 17-15 overall and 9-9 in the MW for a sixth place finish.
This will be the 28th meeting between the two schools. The Cowgirls lead the series 19-8. The last time the two teams met was January 20, 2018 with the Cowgirls coming away with a 61-44 victory. Utah State is coached by Jerry Finkbeiner who is in his sixth season.
