COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 21, 2018) – Cowgirl junior sprinter Jordan Edmonds has been named the Mountain West Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this indoor season, the conference office announced Wednesday.

The award, which is also the second of Edmonds' career, comes after she clocked the No. 2 time on the UW all-time list for the women's indoor 200 meters at the Arkansas Qualifier last Friday. Edmonds crossed the finish line in 24.02 seconds, chopping 0.35 seconds off her personal best to move into second all-time at Wyoming. She took sixth place in the event in Arkansas, finishing behind sprinters from some of the nation's top teams. Edmonds now has her sights on the school record of 23.71, set by Jessica Fox in 2004.

Edmonds' time ranks third in the Mountain West heading into this weekend's conference championship meet. Only San Diego State senior Ashley Henderson and UNLV senior Drea Austin have recorded better times in the event this year.

The Colorado Springs, Colo., native previously received the weekly honor from the conference on Dec. 12 after she won the 55-meter dash at the Power Meet in Laramie. She wrote her name in the UW record books with that win, posting a converted time of 7.60 seconds that is tied for ninth on the UW all-time list in the women's 60 meters. Edmonds' altitude-adjusted 60 meters time of 7.64 is tied for 10th in the Mountain West ahead of the league's indoor championships.

After two Mountain West Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors this season, the Cowgirl junior will attempt to add "All-Mountain West" to her resumé when Wyoming competes at the 2018 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships Thursday through Saturday.
