Cowgirl Tennis Adds One Student-Athlete

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 13, 2018) — Wyoming women's head tennis coach Dean Clower today announced the addition of one student-athlete to attend the University of Wyoming beginning in the spring of 2019.
 
"Jieyi was highly recruited coming out of Australia and we are excited to get her on campus," Clower said. "Australia has a high level of tennis and she is currently ranked among the best in their country. She will bring a lot of athletic ability to our team as well experience with her international training and tournament background."

Jieyi (JJ) Chen, Rostrevor, Australia (Marryatville HS):  A two-time winner of the Australian School Tennis Challenge and a runner-up once while attending Marryatville High School. She was a member of the team that won the Open Girls Knockout tournament three times, which the school has won 14 years in a row. In 2018, she reached a ranking of 82nd in the Open Women's for Australia while earning an Athletics Merit award and a Certificate of Excellence. During her career, she was also the runner-up at the 2017 School Sport SA Tennis Championships and participated in the U16 Eddie Herr Tournament at the IMG Academy. She is the daughter of Jianxiong Chen and Hongyu Zeng.
