Pokes Head to Sunshine State for Fort Myers Tip-Off

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 17, 2018) – Wyoming hits the road for a pair of non-conference games at the Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans Fort Myers Tip-Off in Fort Myers, Fla. on Monday and Wednesday. The Pokes open with Boston College on Monday at 7 p.m. MT for the first ever meeting between the two schools. UW will then face either Richmond or Loyola-Chicago on Wednesday.
 
The game will be televised on FS1 with Brandon Gaudin on play-by-play and Bob Wenzel on color. Fans can watch, listen to the game and follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Dave Walsh and Kevin McKinney will call the action.
 
A Look at the Matchup
Wyoming heads into the tournament with a 1-3 overall record after falling at home to Niagara by a score of 72-67 on Friday. The Pokes are averaging 70.8 points per game, while opponents are averaging 77.2 points per game.
 
The Pokes are shooting 40 percent from the field, as opponents are shooting 46 percent. Wyoming has struggled from the three point line so far this season shooting at a 29 percent clip. The Pokes averages seven steals per game and have a +2.3 turnover margin on the season.
 
The Eagles are 2-1 on the season with wins over St. Francis and Milwaukee. Boston College's lone defeat was to IUPUI by a score of 76-69. The Eagles are holding opponents to only 36 percent from the field on the season. Offensively, BC is shooting 43 percent from the field. Boston College is grabbing 38.7 rebounds per game and are turning the ball over 12 times per game on the season.
 
Each Team's Leaders
Senior Justin James leads the Pokes in scoring, rebounding and assists. He averages 21 points per game to go along with nine rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He has made 24 of his last 25 free throw attempts dating back to Oregon State. Sophomore Hunter Maldonado adds 14 points per game and eight rebounds. He has recorded back-to-back double-doubles.
 
Junior Jake Hendricks adds 12.5 points per game and leads the team with 12 three pointers, as he adds 3.0 per game. Sophomore Austin Mueller adds five points per game and leads the Pokes with seven steals on the year.
 
The Eagles are led by one of the top players in the ACC in Ky Bowman. He averages 19.7 points per game to go along with 7.3 rebounds and three assists per game. He is shooting 89 percent from the free throw line for the season. Wynston Tabbs adds 15.3 points per game and four rebounds per night. Jordan Chatman adds 15.0 points per game, while Stefon Mitchell leads the team grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game.
 
About the Series
Monday's game will mark the first meeting between the two schools. Wyoming last played a team from the ACC in 2003 against North Carolina in the NIT on the road.

The Cowboys will either face Richmond or Loyola-Chicago on Wednesday with a time to be determined. The contest will also be televised on FS1.
