Laramie, Wyo. (Nov. 14, 2018) --  Wyoming Director of Golf Joe Jensen announced on Wednesday the signing of Bryce Waters of Odessa College in Odessa, Texas, to a national letter-of-intent.  Waters is currently a sophomore at Odessa College and will come to Wyoming in the fall of 2019 with two years of eligibility.

"We are really excited that Bryce (Waters) has decided to join our golf program here at Wyoming," said Jensen.  "Bryce is not just an outstanding golfer, but is a talented two-sport athlete, having played basketball at a high level in high school.  He is playing for one of the top junior-college golf programs in the nation at Odessa College.

"I'm excited about adding a player of Bryce's ability and experience.  He has excelled against top competition at both the high school and junior-college levels.  It is also a benefit to add a junior to our roster to balance out the experience level for our team next year."

A native of Midland, Texas, the 6'4" Waters has enjoyed a great deal of success at the junior-college level in his two seasons at Odessa College.  He helped lead Odessa to a fourth-place finish at the 2018 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship last spring .  Waters placed 18th individually at the national championships, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors as a freshman.  Odessa also won the NJCAA District 2 Championship in 2018, as Waters tied for 14th place.

During the 2018 fall season, Waters placed 14th at the NJCAA National Preview Tournament in Melbourne, Fla., and helped Odessa to a second-place team finish.  He also finished eighth at the Andrews College Amateur, and placed second at the Odessa College Invitational.

At Midland Christian High School, Waters led his golf team to the state championship as a senior, and he was named First Team All-State.  Also an outstanding high school basketball player, he was named District MVP and earned First Team All-State honors from the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).  He is studying business management at Odessa College.
