Women's Volleyball 10/7/2018 1:04:00 PM
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 7, 2018) – It was a fun week to be inside the UniWyo Sports Complex, as the Wyoming volleyball team defeated rival Colorado State, 3-1, on Tuesday before mounting a 3-2 comeback win over Air Force on Thursday.

How They Fared

W vs. Colorado State, 3-1
The Cowgirls (11-6, 3-2 MW) used their depth on the offensive attack to their advantage with six Pokes scoring five or more kills, led by sophomore Jackie McBride with 10 on a .450 hitting percentage and Faith Waitsman with nine on a .333 hitting percentage. Setter Cori Aafedt recorded her 11th match of 20 assists or more with 20, followed by Marissa Hines with 16. With their own hitting percentage of .284, Wyoming held the Rams to a .144 percentage—Colorado State's lowest since its season-opening loss to Illinois (.137). Thanks in large part to the Pokes' 13.5 team blocks, the Rams recorded 30 attacking errors along with 10 service errors. McBride added a career high nine blocks—including three solo—to lead the team. With 983 digs heading into the match, libero Madi Fields made Wyoming history on Tuesday night with another 18 to become the ninth Cowgirl to reach 1,000 career digs.

W vs. Air Force, 3-2
After a slow start and falling down, 2-0, to open the match, the Wyoming volleyball team mounted an epic comeback to rally and defeat Air Force, 3-2, at the UniWyo Sports Complex. It marked the first time since 2013 at San Jose State that the Cowgirls have come back from a 2-0 deficit.

Middle blocker Reed Copeland and setter Cori Aafedt led the Pokes with double-doubles on the night, with Copeland racking up 12 kills and a career-high-tying 13 blocks to surpass 1,000 points for her career. Aafedt recorded 31 assists and 12 digs in the game, bringing her career assist total to 999. Sophomore Jackie McBride led the Cowgirl offense, recording 13 kills on a .286 hitting percentage—also posting five blocks and five digs. With Copeland in double digits as well, Faith Waitsman, Tara Traphagan and KC McMahon each added seven kills. Aafedt once again led the Pokes in assists, followed by Marissa Hines with 18.
