LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 23, 2018) – The Wyoming volleyball team returns home this weekend for a couple of key MW contests against Fresno State and San Diego State at the UniWyo Sports Complex.
The Pokes will host the Bulldogs on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. MT before taking on the Aztecs on Saturday, also at 6:30 p.m. MT. "I hope that with eight matches to play in the season, we see the opportunity to pick up some big wins here and move ourselves up in the standings," head coach
Chad Callihan said. "I don't think we're out of this thing. Hopefully we're ready to compete and show that.
The Wyoming volleyball team split a pair of MW road contests last weekend, defeating New Mexico after dropping a tough match to UNLV. Against the Lobos, the Cowgirls were led by
Jackie McBride, who tallied the first double-double of her career with 10 kills on a .474 hitting percentage and a career-high-shattering 14 blocks. It was the most blocks in a match by any Cowgirl this season.
Fresno State heads into this weekend's match with the Cowgirls at 16-6 overall and leading the MW at 8-1 in conference after picking up 3-1 wins over Nevada and San Jose State on the road last week. The Bulldogs took the first meeting of the season, edging the Cowgirls, 3-1, in Fresno.
The Aztecs enter the weekend with a 7-16 overall record after defeating Nevada and dropping a match to San Jose State on the road. San Diego State took the first meeting between the two teams this season, defeating Wyoming in five sets in San Diego.
Both matches this week are set to be streamed live online on the MW Digital Network. Live stats for all Wyoming home matches can be found at gowyo.com.
