LARAMIE, Wyo. – For the second time this season, Paul Roberts has been named the Mountain West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office. He is the first Cowboy since Mark Korir in 2008 to win the award multiple times in a season.

Last week, the junior from Lyons, Colo., placed 12^th individually at the Wisconsin-hosted Pre-Nationals race. Roberts navigated the 8-kilometer course in 24:08.2, the fifth-fastest 8k by a Cowboy since records started to be kept in 1990. Roberts was the top finisher among all Mountain West racers.

Roberts paced the Cowboys into a fifth-place team finish, upsetting six nationally-ranked teams in the process. The Cowboys finished ahead of then-ranked No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 9 Colorado State, No. 15 Southern Utah, No. 20 Michigan, No. 22 Ole Miss and No. 26 NC State.

The Cowboys are back in action on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Mountain West Championships. This year, the race is hosted by San Diego State.
