Wyoming Harriers Stand Pat in Mountain West Midseason Coaches Poll

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Mountain West released its midseason men's and women's cross country polls, as voted upon by the league's coaches, and both the Cowboys and Cowgirls are in the same spots they were picked during the preseason.

The Cowboys remained in fifth with 29 points, ahead of New Mexico's 21 points, San Jose State's 13 points and Fresno State's seven points. At the top of the poll, the same three teams earned first-place votes, as Colorado State picked up 46 points and four first-place votes, Boise State earned 45 points and three first-place votes and Air Force recorded 38 points and a single first-place vote. Utah State remains in fourth with 29 points.

On the women's side, the Cowgirls remained in eighth place with 41 points, which is two more points than they had in the preseason. They are ahead of UNLV (22 points) and Fresno State and San Diego State, who both tied for 10th with 18 points. At the top of the poll, New Mexico picked up 99 points and nine first-place votes, while Boise State earned 92 points and a pair of first-place votes. Utah State was picked third with 80 points, and Nevada was selected fourth with 63 points. Air Force and Colorado State tied for fifth with 60 points, and San Jose State is in seventh with 52 points.

The Cowboys most recently finished second at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, finishing behind nationally-ranked No. 2 BYU and ahead of No. 28 Furman. The Cowgirls are set to compete this weekend in Denver at the Roadrunner Invitational on Saturday, October 6.
