Cowgirl Basketball Faces Road Test against Nevada

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 22, 2018) – The Wyoming women's basketball team will take its five-game winning streak on the road against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Wednesday night. The game is set for a 7:30 p.m. MT tip time at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno. Live stats, video and audio can be found on the GoWyo.com website.
 
The Cowgirls enter the contest 21-5 overall and tied for first with a 5-1 record in Mountain West play after a 61-44 victory over Utah State on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Taylor Rusk led all scorers in the game behind a career-high 19 point effort while shooting 6-7 (.857) from the field and beyond the arc. She also added three assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes of action. Senior Liv Roberts followed with 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while junior Bailee Cotton chipped in 11 points and eight boards. Wyoming shot 21-of-43 (.488) from the field and 10-of-18 (.556) from beyond the arc. UW out rebounded the Aggies 34-23, had 20 assists on 21 made baskets and 18 points off turnovers.
 
Roberts is averaging a team-high 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest, which ranks 13th and eighth in overall games, respectively in the MW. She is followed by Rusk who is adding 9.8 points and 2.9 assists, while Cotton is chipping in 8.9 points and 5.9 boards per game. UW is shooting 353-of-867 (.407) from the field and 205-of-265 (.774) from the free throw line. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 60.5-54.8 and out rebounding teams 33.8-32.3.
 
Nevada comes in to the contest 11-7 overall and 4-3 in MW play. Last time out, the Wolf Pack defeated Boise State 72-68. Senior Teige Zeller leads the way with 13.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore Camariah King follows with 10.4 points respectively. As a squad, the Wolf Pack are shooting 463-1098 (.422) from the field and out rebounding opponents 39.1-34.5. They return three starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 11-19 and 5-13 in the league last season. This will be the 23rd meeting ever between the two schools. UW leads the series 16-6. The last time the two teams met was January 3, 2018 with the Cowgirls coming out on top 66-60 in Laramie. Nevada is coached by Amanda Levens who is in her first season with the program.
