The last time former head coach Larry Shyatt and Josh Adams were on the floor of the Thomas & Mack Center the duo was hoisting the 2014-15 MW Tournament Championship trophy. The pair will reunite on that same floor in July for the NBA Summer League. Shyatt will coach for the Dallas Mavericks and will be joined by Adams, who signed to play with team. Another former Cowboy will be in action as well as Nathan Sobey will play for the Utah Jazz.
Adams played for Avtodor Saratov in Russia’s VTB United League. He averaged 7.8 points per game and added a team-high 2.3 assists per game. He also pulled down 3.3 rebounds per game and added two steals per night. He played for the Nuggets in the Summer League last season, as he averaged 4.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
Sobey, who played for the Adelaide 36ers’ of Australia’s National Basketball League, was named the league’s Most Improved Player. He averaging 15.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 27.4 minutes per game. Sobey also shot 44 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the three point line. After the NBL season was over he signed with PAOK Thessaloniki a professional team in Greece.
Sobey and the Jazz will host games in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 3-6. The Jazz along with the Mavericks will also play in Las Vegas from July 7-17. Fans can watch every game of the NBA Summer League on the ESPN family of Networks and NBA Network.
