INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 29, 2017) – Two former University of Wyoming student-athletes have been invited to attend the 2017 NCAA Career in Sports Forum. Casey Duckworth and Anne Hinman were named as two of over 200 current student-athletes and postgraduate scholarship recipients that will take part in the event which is scheduled for June 1-4 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Ind. Duckworth and Hinman were four-year members of the Cowgirl swimming and soccer programs, respectively.

"It's very exciting to have two high achieving Cowgirls accepted into the Forum," Faculty Athletics representative Alyson Hagy said. "Casey (Duckworth) and Anne (Hinman) are both gifted leaders, and they both had impressive, well-rounded careers at UW—in their academic fields and on their teams. College athletics needs to provide more paths toward leadership for women.  Casey and Anne are exactly the kind of inspiring individuals the NCAA is seeking."

The Career in Sports Forum, an annual educational forum hosted by the NCAA, brings together 200 student-athletes to learn and explore potential careers in sports, with the primary focus on college athletics.

This unique, four-day forum is designed to assist student-athletes in charting their career paths, as well as provide an opportunity to network and learn from current athletics professionals. Search #LearnLead to follow the social conversation and events at the 2017 Career in Sports Forum, as well as all NCAA leadership development programs.

The topics covered by industry experts will include: how personal values intersect with career opportunities, how behavioral styles impact individual effectiveness, the key professional and career development information to assist with transition from a student-athlete to a professional, and the role of the college coach or athletics administrator. Participants will network with peers, as well as key decision-makers at the campus, conference and national level of college athletics.

Forum attendees, with representation from 73 conferences, will hear from various keynote speakers and panelists, highlighted by Stevie Baker-Watson, associate vice president and director of athletics at DePauw University; Jason Burton, head women's basketball coach at the Texas A&M University-Commerce; Clyde Doughty Jr, director of athletics at Bowie State University; Oliver Luck, NCAA executive vice president of regulatory affairs; Felicia Martin, vice president of the NCAA Eligibility Center; and Craig McPhail, director of athletics at Lees-McRae College. The participants also learn best practices for gaining employment and gathering a better understanding of what future expectations will be once they get a job in sports.

"It's an honor to have been selected to attend the forum," Duckworth said. "I am so excited to be able to represent the University of Wyoming along with Anne Hinman. I am hoping I will be able to bring back information from the forum that will allow me to help with the further development and success of UW athletics. I think it will be an incredible learning experience that will help me in countless ways in the future."

Duckworth was a four-time Mountain West Scholar Athlete while wearing the Brown and Gold. She was also named to the President's List in 2014-15 and the Dean's List in 2013-14 and 2015-16. She graduated with a criminal justice degree in 2016 and has since earned her master's in public administration. Hinman was a 2013-14 MW Scholar Athlete for the Cowgirls and graduated with a communications degree this past spring.
