LARAMIE, Wyo. (May 16, 2017) – The University of Wyoming wrestling program and head coach Mark Branch added another talented wrestler on Tuesday morning. Anthony Capul, a native of Garden Plain, Kan., will join the Cowboys next season.

“Anthony (Capul) is a wrestler we looked at in the fall,” Branch said. “We were focused on upper weights and he obviously falls under that category to help us. He is a powerful and strong wrestler.”

Capul wrestled at 195-pounds during his high school career and is projected to wrestle at the 174, 184 or 197-pound weight class for the Brown and Gold. He is a two-time high school state champion at Andale high school. Additionally, he was twice a USA Wrestling Folkstyle National All-American.

“Because of his height, I can see him competing for us in a number of different weights, I would say anywhere from 174 to 197,” Branch added. “Initially he felt Boise State would be a good fit, but when they chose to discontinue their program we jumped on the opportunity to bring him here right away.”

Capul joins five other signees in Cale Davidson, Hayden Hastings, Carless Looney, Jed Loveless and Casey Randles.
