LARAMIE, Wyo. (May 1, 2017) — Wyoming women’s head tennis coach Dean Clower today announced the signing of two student-athletes to attend the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall of 2017.
Here are the signees:
Sharon Pesch (Peshh), 5-7, Péntage, Luxemborg (Lycee Technique de Bonnevoie): A Merit Athlete selection while attending Lycee Technique de Bonnevoie. She won four European championships in both singles and doubles, while winning a doubles title in 2016. Pesch won several titles in the U16, U18 and Women’s Singles. She reached the semi-finals of the ITF Heiveld in 2015 and was selected for the Fed Cup. She is the daughter of Christophe Pesch and Malida Khunaphim, plus has one sibling, Travis.
“Sharon brings us a wealth of talent, experience, and an overall maturity on the court with all of her experiences as an athlete in her young career. We will look for her to be an immediate impact player for us in singles and doubles and will grow to be one of our top players.”
Harsha Challa (Hur Shah Hall Uh), 5-9, Hyderabad, Telangana, India (Cal Public School): Challa comes to Wyoming after a very accomplished juniors and National Women’s and Junior Circuit career. She has a current National Doubles ranking of 93 and is 94th in singles, while her current ITF Juniors ranking is 534. She has won the ITF juniors title twice in doubles, the National Women’s title in both singles and doubles. Challa has been a finalist and winner of several tournaments across India. She is the daughter of Malllikarjun and Sreelakshmi Challa.
