LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 24, 2017) – Head coach Mark Branch and the University of Wyoming Cowboy wrestling program announced the addition of Jed Loveless on Monday. A native of Payson, Utah, Loveless will join UW beginning this upcoming season.
“I am very excited to sign an individual of Jed’s caliber this spring,” Branch said. “He comes from a solid family and a wrestling family. After watching him at post-season high school nationals, I am optimistic of his potential. He can wrestle in every position and I’m confident he will only get better in our room.”
Loveless is projected to be a 149/157-pound wrestler for the Brown and Gold. He is a Utah High School State Champion and four-time finalist for Payson high school. He took third at the 2016 Reno Tournament of Championship before claiming third-place at the 2017 USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals.
His brother, Zac was a 2014 NJCAA Champion for Northwest College while his father, Chris is a former state champion coach at Payson high school and was the head coach of Wyoming’s Assistant Director of Player Development, McCade Ford.
Loveless joins four other signees in Cale Davidson, Hayden Hastings, Carless Looney and Casey Randles.
