LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 14, 2017) -- With the regular season now at a close, the University of Wyoming women’s golf team will embark on the Mountain West Championship in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday and will conclude with the final round on Wednesday. The championship will once again be held on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club. The field features all nine Mountain West teams.
Wyoming’s lineup will feature senior Mackenzie Barrie, junior Gabrielle Gibson, sophomore Megan Knadler, freshman Erin Sargent and redshirt sophomore Sarah Hankins. Barrie and Gibson will each be participating in their third championship, while the tournament is the second for Knadler and first each for Sargent and Hankins.
Last Time Out
Three Cowgirls placed within the top-30 at the 2017 Cowgirl Classic to lead the Brown and Gold to an eighth-place team finish on April 7 in Maricopa, Ariz. UW shot a three-round total 902 (+38) as sophomore Megan Knadler earned her second top-15 finish of the season and tied for 13th. Freshman Erin Sargent tied for 24th and senior Mackenzie Barrie earned a share of 29th to pace UW.

The Cowgirls concluded the three-day tournament a year ago with a 953 (+89) team score while placing ninth on the par-72, 6,291 yard course. UW shot its best round of the tournament with a score of 307 (+19) on the final day. Wyoming was led by Kaylee Knadler, who finished among the top-35. She shot a final round 77 (+5) to bring her three-round total to 236 (+20).

Format
The 54-hole event will be contested at the Mission Hills Country Club this coming Monday-Wednesday. Each day will consist of 18 holes of championship golf.
