LARAMIE, Wyo. – Cowgirl soccer began its 2017 spring campaign with
two wins on Sunday afternoon inside the Indoor Practice Facility. Wyoming
defeated the University of Northern Colorado by a score of 3-0, and later took
down Colorado State-Pueblo, 6-0.
Juniors Shaina Ashouri and Alisha Bass were responsible for most of the scoring against the Bears, each with one
goal and one assist. Ashouri netted the first goal on a pass from Bass, who
then scored the second goal after a set-up from Ashouri. Junior Brittney Stark made
her Cowgirl debut on Sunday, and tallied the final goal of the opening match.
Bass recorded two more goals and
an assist against the Thunderwolves. Stark added another goal from a corner
kick and one assist. Ashouri capped off the game’s last goal. Freshmen Michaela Stark and Avery Smith got in on the scoring with one goal, each.
The Cowgirls will return to the IPF for
another double-header on Sunday, March 26. Wyoming will face Regis at 10 a.m.
followed by Laramie County Community College at 2:15 p.m.
