Arizona NIT Notes | Live Stats
LARAMIE, Wyo. – Wyoming men’s golf
heads to Tucson, Ariz. to compete in the Arizona NIT. The University of Arizona
will host the event at the Omni Tucson National-Catalina Course. The tournament
will feature a field of 16 teams from across the country, including three teams
ranked in the NCAA top 50 and four Mountain West competitors.
The Cowboys are no
strangers to the Catalina Course. Last year, Wyoming put forward one of its
best performances of the season, tying for third at the Arizona NIT. Junior Drew McCullough carded a six-under 66 on the final day to tie for fourth with the
best score in program history at the Arizona NIT with a 207 (-9). Junior Arron Lickteig shot a 214 (-2) to tie for 16th and senior Ryan Wallen posted a 216 (E) to
tie for 24th.
Last weekend, the
Cowboys competed against a field that included four teams ranked in the NCAA
top 50. Three more teams ranked in the top 50 await at the Arizona NIT. BYU is
currently 40th in the nation. Arizona State holds the 27th spot, led by senior Jared
du Toit, one of the top-10 players in the country according to Golfstat
statistical rankings. Mountain West foe UNLV is the top-ranked team in the
field at #17.
