season, our ‘Ask the Cowboys’ series will include features on each member of
the team. The final installment is an interview with senior Ryan Wallen, a
native of Blaine, Wash.

Do you have any superstitions?
I have to shower both at night and in the morning or I feel
a little off
What is your favorite restaurant?
Sushi Boat. It’s a hidden
gem.
What TV show are you currently binge watching on Netflix?
I was way into Prison Break, but then I started having some
weird dreams and couldn’t focus in class because I was trying to figure out how
I would break out of the room if it was all locked up, so I had to put a stop
to that.
What is your favorite golf moment?
Last Fall at CU.
Competing as an individual was awesome, but knowing the team was in the
hunt was even better. My parents were
there as well, which I was extremely thankful for. The feeling on the golf course was different
that day. It was the first time we have
been in a situation like that in my 4 years here, but it won’t be the
last. There are special things in store
for us this spring season.
What is your favorite club in your bag?
Putter. We have a
great relationship. If I couldn’t putt I
wouldn’t be a college golfer because I’m pretty sure my 263.5 yard average off
the tee isn’t saving me any strokes.
What is a strange habit you have?
I tend to say “sauce” a lot instead of saying the actual
word. For example “you wanna go get some
sauce” (sauce meaning food) or instead of good shot “that’s the sauce.”
If you could live anywhere where would it be?
Hawaii. Love the people!
What is one of your hobbies?
I love cooking. My
freshman year I didn’t know how to make Mac n’ Cheese. I’ve grown a lot over these four years as a
person and player, but my progress in the kitchen has been pretty remarkable.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
Playing Augusta probably wouldn’t be too bad. I heard it’s in decent shape most of the
time.
