Desert Intercollegiate Notes | Live Results
LARAMIE, Wyo. – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team will host the three-day Desert
Intercollegiate at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., beginning this
Friday. The field is comprised of 22 teams from across the country, included
two ranked squads and Mountain West foe Fresno State.
The Cowboys will look to build off of their successful
finish to the fall campaign, which saw consecutive top-10 finishes as a team.
Senior Ryan Wallen will lead UW after placing ninth and second in his last two
outings, respectively.
“I think we’ve had a really good offseason and we’ve all
been working super hard,” Wallen said. “We went home and I know the guys put
work in. I’ve seen it first hand up at the facility and in the weight room. We
finished really strong in the fall and I think we can definitely build off that
in the spring.”
The Arnold Palmer-designed Classic Club is a par-72 course
and will play 7,322 yards this weekend. All eight Cowboys will compete in the
event.
“We’re out at the facility every day, which has been a huge
advantage for us with all the weather we’ve had recently,” junior Drew McCullough said. “We really picked things up at the end of the fall season and
we’re hoping that we can get off to a hot start in training this week. It’s a
tough course, there’s a lot of water and tricky holes. It’s a real challenge,
but we’ve played it plenty of times and we’ll be in the right mindset.”
