DENVER, Colo. – With heavy snow showers forecasted for Monday along the Front Range, the University of Denver announced the cancellation of the Paintbrush Invitational on Saturday. The two-day tournament was originally scheduled to take place on Monday and Tuesday, with 36 holes planned for Monday's action and an 18-hole final round on Tuesday.
"We're going to move forward and focus on our event," said UW head coach
Joe Jensen on Saturday. "We came down (to Denver) to prepare, so the upside is that we'll have a nice weekend of practice. You can't control bad weather, so you just move on to the next event."
The Cowboy golf team was part of a tough 12-team field that was scheduled to compete in Parker, Colo., at the Colorado Golf Club. With the cancellation of the tournament, the Cowboys will next be in action on Oct. 14-15 when they host the Wyoming Southern Dunes Invitational in Maricopa, Ariz., at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
