The Wyoming tennis team opened up the Air Force Invitational with two wins in doubles and one in singles on Friday morning in Colorado Springs.

"It was good to get the players out in match situations," head coach Dean Clower said. "We did some good things and a lot of things are easily fixed. Overall, we are on the right track and need to continue doing what they are doing."

UW started out the day in doubles with two teams in action. Miranda Talbert and Milka Genkova lost to Fumagalli and Rudico of Air Force, 6-3, but rebounded a 6-4 win over Summer Brills and Joely Lomas of Drake. Emily Kolbow and Riley Reeves edged out Imogen Clews and Ana Tkachenko, 6-3, but they responded with a 7-5 win over Lucy Octave and Monika Van de Vondel of Utah State.

In singles play, Genkova earned a straight set win, 6-2, 6-2, over Whitney Williams. She will play Riley Reeves of CSU tomorrow. Talbert opened up the day with a 6-1, 7-5 loss against Chloe Forlini, and will play Eva Dench of Texas State. Clews lost to Anna Battersby of Northern Colorado, 6-3, 6-2, while Tkachenko dropped her match, 7-5, 7-6 (6), against Kenya Williams of Denver. Both will play in the consolation bracket tomorrow.

Wyoming will return to action tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. MT with both doubles and singles play.
