Logan, Utah – Wyoming soccer conceded three
second-half goals Sunday afternoon, as the Utah State Aggies claimed the 3-0
victory over the Cowgirls in Logan, Utah.
Through 45 minutes of
action, nothing separated the two teams. Utah State (6-4-0) led 6-to-5 in
shots, but each team only recorded three shots on goal without troubling the
opposing goalkeeper. In the second half, the Aggies took control. The first
goal came from a corner kick, headed in by Lauren Harmon in the 56th minute. Bailee
Hammond doubled the lead in the 70th minute and Wesley Hamblin put the game
away five minutes later with her fourth goal of the season.
Wyoming (4-5-1) was held to a
season-low seven shots on Sunday. Shaina Ashouri led the Cowgirls in shots for
the sixth-consecutive contest, tallying two attempts. Freshman Brooklynn Mooney
made her first career start in a Cowgirl uniform, and recorded a career-high 85
minutes. Wyoming now trails in the all-time series with the Aggies at 4-5-2.
Wyoming returns to Laramie for a
four-game homestand, beginning next Friday against UNLV. UW will take on the
Rebels at 4 p.m. before facing Nevada on Sunday at 12 p.m. Live streams of each
