RIO DE JANEIRO (Aug. 11, 2016) – University of Wyoming freshman swimmer
Talita Te Flan completed her 800 meter freestyle preliminary race in a time of 9:07.21,
placing sixth in her heat, in the 2016 Summer Olympics on Thursday.
“To swim on that stage is unbelievable, and we’re
really proud of her,” head coach Tom Johnson said. “I’m sure she wanted to have
gone faster. She had been a little faster back in May, but it’s still a
terrific time. We’re looking forward to her contributions to the program down
the road.”
Te Flan finished 27th overall in
the standings, and will not advance to the final.
The men’s and women’s swimming
and diving programs will being the 2016-17 season with their Brown and Gold
Event on September 30, at the Corbett Pool.
