Head Coach Joe Legerski and the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball program
announced the completion of the 2016-17 schedule with the addition of
the Mountain West contests. The Cowgirls’ home schedule will feature
nine MW games along with the seven other nonconference contests.
Wyoming will open up the regular season with four homes games out of its
first six. UW will tip things off against Chadron State, on Friday,
Nov. 11, followed up by a road match-up with NCAA-participant Michigan
State Spartans, on Sunday, Nov. 13. Back home for three straight, UW is
scheduled to face Denver, Cal State Fullerton and Adams State. Following
the Thanksgiving break, a single contest with Drake on Sunday (11/27).
UW will return home to the friendly confines of the Arena-Auditorium as
it hosts Southern Utah on Friday, Dec. 2, the South Dakota Coyotes on
Sunday, Dec. 4 and the Idaho Vandals on Friday, Dec. 9. The Cowgirls
will conclude their non-conference slate against the Montana Lady Griz,
on Sunday, Dec. 18 and Colorado Buffaloes, on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Wyoming begins league play at on the road against the Air Force Falcons,
on Thursday, Dec. 29, followed by a Saturday, Dec. 31 date with the
UNLV Lady Rebels in Laramie. During the month of January, they will
welcome WNIT participant Fresno State Bulldogs, on Wednesday, Jan. 4;
San Jose State, on Wednesday, Jan. 18; and WBI participant New Mexico,
on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Cowgirls will host the San Diego State Aztecs
Wednesday, Feb. 1. Air Force on Saturday, Feb. 4; Utah State will visit
the Double A on Saturday, Feb. 11, while Boise State makes the trip to
Laramie, on Saturday, Feb. 18. They will close out their home schedule
on Tuesday, February 28, against rival Colorado State.
In all, the Cowgirls will play 18 Mountain West games, scheduled mainly
on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They will play eight opponents twice in a
home-and-home series and two opponents just one time. This season,
Wyoming will face Nevada and San Diego State once during the season.
The Mountain West tournament will be held in Las Vegas, Nev., at the
Thomas & Mack Center. The first round of the tournament is set for
Monday, March 6; the quarterfinals, on Tuesday, March 7; the semifinals,
on Wednesday, March 8; and the championship game, on Friday, March.
