Senior McKenzie Brogan moved up to sixth in Cowgirl history in the 400-meter hurdles to pace the University of Wyoming track and field teams on Friday at Cal's Brutus Hamilton Challenge. The 13 Cowboys and Cowgirls that competed battled cloudy and rainy conditions during the day.

Brogan continued to climb Wyoming's all-time top 10 in her first season running the event with a time of 59.90 to place first on Friday. The personal best moved her up to sixth in Cowgirl history and is third fastest in the Mountain West this season. Sophomore Heidi Pfoor finished second in the race with a personal-best 1:01.95, just seven tenths of a second away from UW's top 10 and sixth fastest in the conference this season. The Cowgirls also got an event victory from freshman Emelda Malm-Annan with a throw of 176-2 in the hammer. Fellow freshman Allegra Carson with runner-up in the triple jump after a leap of 37-9 1/4, while senior Madison Seaman was third in the discus at 143-2.

Junior Jordan Charles led the Cowboys with a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.13. Sophomore Garrett Lynch placed the same in the discus with a mark of 155-2. Senior Tyler Anderson was fourth in the hammer after a throw of 194-3.

Wyoming begins competition in the second day of the Brutus Hamilton Challenge at 11 a.m. MT on Saturday.
