COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
MW Release
The University of Wyoming Cowgirl swimming and diving team has been selected fourth in the 2016 Mountain West Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced Friday. This year's meet will be held at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M.
"We will be very much in the thick of it," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "We have a good idea of who we are going up against and haven't been working this hard to finish fourth. We are excited and look forward to the meet next week, so we'll see how that plays itself out."
UW closed out the regular season with an impressive 8-3 dual record and will look to finish within the top-four at the championship meet for the tenth-straight year. Wyoming finished in fourth place a year ago with 420 total team points.
The results were taken from a poll of the 10 head coaches. Boise State and Nevada tied for first and are expected to win the MW Championships, while San Diego State, the defending conference champion, is predicted for a third-place finish. Wyoming received one first place vote and is fourth, followed by UNLV, Air Force, New Mexico, San Jose State, Fresno State and Colorado State.
