The University of Wyoming men's and women's track and field teams both earned wins over Montana State during the Powder River Dual on Saturday afternoon at the Campbell County Rec Center. The Cowgirls won 11 of 14 events to run away with a 92-59 victory, while the Cowboys claimed a narrow 74.5-72.5 victory thanks to eight event titles.

"Both teams competed extremely hard today," UW head coach Bryan Berryhill said. "Both teams showed a lot of balance today earning victories in all areas. The men's competition came down to the 4x4 and the energy of the team helped them get the 4x4 victory and secure the team win."

The men's race came down to the final event, but senior Scott Carter was the highlight of the day for the Cowboys. He leapt a personal-best 24-1 to win the long jump and posted a mark of 50-4 1/2 to win the triple jump. Senior Tyler Anderson threw a season-best 64-1 3/4 to win the weight throw, while freshman Bryce Ailshie crossed the line first in the 800 meters in 1:57. Wyoming also got event titles from freshman Calil Burnett (60 meters), sophomore Ricky Faure (mile) and junior Jordan Charles (60-meter hurdles).

Freshman Ja'la Henderson paced the Cowgirls' dominating effort with a personal-best leapt of 19-9 1/2 to win the long jump. The mark is second in the Mountain West this season and keeps her second in Cowgirl history in the event. Junior Audra DeStefano competed in her home town and won the 3,000 meters in 9:39, just two tenths of a second away from her personal best, while junior Mikalah Skates' winning time of 8.84 in the 60-meter hurdles was a season best. Redshirt freshman Jerayah Davis tied her personal best in the 60 meters in 7.53 to cross the line first. The Cowgirls also got event titles from freshman Ashley Snyder (200 meters), senior McKenzie Brogan (400 meters), sophomore Kim Robertson (800 meters), senior Sabina Sandberg (high jump), sophomore Day Timberman (triple jump) and freshman Emelda Malm-Annan (weight throw).

The Cowboys and Cowgirls next host the Wyoming Invite on Friday on the Hager-LeBar Indoor Track in War Memorial Fieldhouse.
