Ted Hendricks Award Watch List
The 2015 Ted Hendricks Award Committee announced this week its Midseason Watch List, and Wyoming senior Eddie Yarbrough is one of 32 candidates for this year's award. This is the second consecutive season that Yarbrough has been named to the Hendricks Watch List. The award is named for former University of Miami defensive end Ted Hendricks, who was college football's first three-time First Team All-American.
Yarbrough earned First Team All-Mountain West Conference honors as a sophomore in 2013 and a junior in 2014 in voting by conference head coaches and media members. In this, his senior season, he ranks third among all Mountain West defensive linemen in tackles, averaging 4.4 tackles per game. Yarbrough leads the Cowboys in sacks this season, with 3.0. He ranks No. 2 on Wyoming's career tackle for loss list, with 33.5 for his career. Yarbrough has recorded 35 tackles this season, 5.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and one pass breakup.
A native of Aurora, Colo., where he played at Grandview High School, Yarbrough has been voted a team captain each of the past two seasons by his Cowboy teammates. He earned Honorable Mention Sophomore All-America honors from Campus Insiders/CollegeFootballNews.com in 2013.
Criteria for selection to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List includes: on-field performance, exceptional winning attitude, leadership abilities, contributions to school and community and academic preparedness are some of the criteria used to determine the Award's winner.
Members of the national media, head coaches, professional scouts and former winners are included in the Award's voting committee. Candidates may represent any class (Freshman through Senior) as well as any four-year NCAA accredited school. The candidate's primary position must be Defensive End.
The Ted Hendricks Award has been presented annually since 2002. This year's winner will be announced on Dec. 9.
